Now known as one of the world's greatest astronomers, New Plymouth alumnus Beatrice Tinsley changed the way in which we view the universe. Her ground-breaking discoveries in the Cosmos were looked down upon by her male colleagues and considered somewhat 'nutty'. With a strong sense of self and a mission for equality, she persevered with her passion, publishing over 100 papers that are still cited today. Like Tinsley, this Cosmic Nut Stout doesn't shy away - packed full of strong malt character and conditioned on Cacao nibs, Muscovado and enough almonds to fill the cosmos.

Charlie the Cockatoo - a feathered New Plymouth icon - lived until the ripe old age of 40, mostly situating himself alongside the Tea Rooms at Pukekura Park. A brief disappearance in 2013 had people guessing that he'd flown the coop, or worse, had gone to 'visit the farm'. Rather, he had been relegated to an aviary around the back of Brookland's Zoo, quite possibly due to the swear words that he had learned from dastardly teenagers. It appeared that Rehab served him well, however, as Charlie landed back at his usual perch for many more years entertaining locals and visitors alike. This Hazy IPA is brewed with Galaxy, Nelson Sauvin, Peachrine, Citra, and offers up flavours of juicy stone fruit, passionfruit and citrus.

Despite the name, 'German Hill' isn't particularly German at all. It earned its title from the blunt local assumption that any European accent must surely be German - when rather it was Inglewood's influx of Polish immigrants settling there in the area in the late 1800s. Close enough, right? Nestled just outside of Inglewood, the volcanic mound originally known as Atoa Iwa had previously served as a perfect kainga for local iwi, giving commanding views of the surrounding land. It also boasted several clean, bubbling springs of water known for its excellent mineral composition. Raise a stein and give a mighty Prost to this beer, brewed with traditional German malt and hops, with inspiration taken from the pure, fresh springs of German Hill.
