Penfolds Koonunga Hill Shiraz Cabernet is a reflection of the Penfolds winemaking style and philosophy. Sourced from premium vineyards across South Australia, the wine is known for its full-flavoured style with excellent Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon fruit, firm yet well-rounded structure and balanced oak. Made as a traditional 'Australian blend', the Shiraz component provides fleshy fruit flavour while Cabernet Sauvignon provides a frame of fine grained tannins. Rich red berry aromatics and underlying spice notes fuse with a delicately structured palate layered with hints of cacao, gorgeously pure fruit, subtle oak and silky tannins. Fermented and macerated on skins for up to 2 weeks with some partial barrel fermentation. Following pressing and clarification, the wine was matured in French oak hogsheads for approximately 18 months. Full bodied, classic Stonewell with massive density and length. Classic blue and black fruits with ironstone and graphite tannins. A long life ahead, one of the all-time classic Stonewell's.

Finishes silky soft.

The wine has a lifted bouquet of black cherry, violets, plum and all enhanced by hints of cedary oak. The concentrated palate exhibits boysenberry, red currant and fine grain textured tannins. Will age well with careful cellaring.
