Dark red, purple hues. Amazing dark berry fruit in the raspberry black currant spectrum. The spice notes of Syrah are to the fore in this wine with a white pepper and Chinese five spice. As is Askerne's style, the fruit was aged in oak to accentuate the savoury notes and introduce aromas of vanilla and toast. The palate is especially vibrant with a line of acidity knitting the fleshiness and structural components together. Excellent concentration and vibrancy with a long finish.

Aged in French barrels for 12 months creating a soft earthy nose with blackcurrent aromas developing nicely. Ingratiate yourself with sweet varietal fruit and a lingering dark chocolate promise.

The nose is bright and intense with sweet red fruit and hints of cassis. Aromatics are tempered with notes of fennel and coriander seed, the palate unfolding with flavours of ripe red fruits and fresh blackcurrant.

Crimson is our selection of fruit from younger parcels of vines from our various vineyards on the Martinborough Terrace. In their youth, vines tend to be more fruit expressive, gaining more complexity with time. Now, Crimson is developing more depth of flavour, with a mix of vines aged from 5 to 20 years.

The Babich Black Label range is crafted specifically to complement food. This deep coloured Syrah is produced from a special selection of grapes grown in the Bridge Pa Triangle region of Hawke's Bay.
